Puzzle-Piece Time Line of Lexington and Concord
· The Battle of Lexington and Concord marked the start of the American Revolution with “the shot heard round the world.” Learn more about this historical period by creating a puzzle-piece time line that sequences important events related to this famous battle.
CREATING THE PUZZLE-PIECE TIME LINE
· Research the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Use textbooks, trade books, Internet search engines, and encyclopedias.
· As you conduct your research, write down a list of key events associated with this battle: the organization of the minutemen, Paul Revere’s ride, the shot heard round the world, the march to Concord, the British retreat, and so on. Do this in note form. You should write the date of the events and a sentence describing each one.
· Then choose five important events from your list.
· Take five copies of the Puzzle-Piece Template and complete a puzzle piece for each of the five events, following the directions at the top of the template page.
· After you have completed the puzzle pieces, cut them out and tape them, from behind, into a long strip.
We will display the time lines in the hallway for everyone to see.
