Boston Tea Party Step Book
· Write “The Tea Act” under the fifth domino, “The Boston Tea Party” under the sixth domino, and “The Intolerable Acts” under the seventh domino of their Cause-and-Effect Title Page. The series of events you will be studying next is a clear example of cause and effect.
· You will create a step book to record information about these three events.
CREATING THE STEP BOOK
· Take a sheet of white paper and cut the paper in half widthwise. Place the pages on top of each other so that approximately 3/4 " of the bottom page is showing below the top page.
· Next fold the pages backwards so they wrap around, exposing two more 3/4" strips at the bottom. Crease the top fold and staple it.
· Create a title and illustration for your step book on the cover. Remember, the subject of this project is the Boston Tea Party.
· Write Cause, Effect, and Repercussion on the three exposed strips of the lower panels (see the example above).
FINISHING THE STEP BOOK
· Open the step book to the first page (labeled “cause”). Use creative lettering to write “The Tea Act” on the top half. Draw a symbol that represents the event, such as a tea cup or tea bag, and then write a complete paragraph about the Tea Act on the bottom half.
· Lift the next flap, revealing the “effect” page. Write “Boston Tea Party” on the top half and illustrate this famous event. Write a paragraph describing this event on the bottom half.
· Lift the last flap, revealing the “repercussion” page. Write “The Intolerable Acts” in creative script and illustrate this (for example, a “Closed” sign on Boston Harbor). On the bottom half, write a complete paragraph describing the Intolerable Acts and how the colonists reacted to them.
· Glue the Step Book onto a piece of construction paper.
