Decomposer Man
Purpose
Investigate a variety of decomposers. Create a people book that highlights the role decomposers play in the food chain. You could make mushroom man, fungus man, bacteria man, insect man etc.
Creating the People Book
· Take a sheet of white construction paper and fold it in half horizontally twice and then once vertically. When opened, it will reveal eight panels.
· Cut the bottom left and bottom right panels as shown and set scraps aside to use later. Then make a slit up the center to create pants.
· Fold in the top left and top right panels. Then glue the two scraps behind the top two panels to create sleeves.
· Cut a head, hands, and feet from another sheet of paper and add them to the figure.
Completing the People Book
· Use colored pencils to draw clothing or a uniform that is characteristic of the scientific field your decomposer represents.
· Use construction paper to create an object to put in the scientist’s hand that is relevant to something they would decompose.
· Inside the two flaps that cover the chest, write detailed paragraphs that describe the role of decomposers in the food chain.
